With Small Business Saturday taking place this week (3rd December 2016), singer and TV presenter Louise Redknapp has taken a quick step out of her busy schedule to encourage the British public to support the small businesses and shops they are passionate about and shop small.
Loyal Brits are willing to make a 36-mile round trip to visit their favourite shop, a study has found.
Instead of heading to the nearest store, millions are spending valuable time travelling out of town to stick with their tried and tested favourite independent business.
And over half of those polled said they would continue to visit their best-loved shops, even if they moved house and no longer lived in the area.
The stats, which came from a poll by American Express, ahead of Small Business Saturday, also found that a third of people know the staff in their favourite shop by name.
Strictly Come Dancing star Louise, who is supporting the campaign, has spent the past 20 years having her hair cut by hairdresser Billi Currie, who runs the independent Billi Currie salon in Marylebone, Central London.
Despite living in Surrey, she regularly makes the 40-mile round trip for a trim.
